BUFC Coronavirus Statement

BUFC Coronavirus Statement

Parents,

We hope everyone had a blessed Easter weekend.

We received an email from SCYSA on April 15th informing club leaders about the cancellation of the Spring 2020 season. See email below:

On April 14, 2020, US Youth Soccer advised that its "return to play" date has been moved tentatively to May 15, 2020. Accordingly, without sufficient time to safely "return to play" to complete the spring season, effective today April 15, 2020, the SCYSA Spring 2020 league season is cancelled along with the SCYSA post season Cup events. Clubs may commence with marketing/recruiting for the Fall 2020 season immediately and tryouts can be conducted once social distancing/gathering restrictions have been lifted. Tryout dates will be set by SCYSA when appropriate.

Be safe

Board of Directors

Beach United FC leadership is extremely disappointed not to conclude the spring season but do understand the magnitude of this pandemic. This virus is beyond soccer at this point, the safety and well-being of our players and others is a priority. We have been consistent in updating each and every member during these trying times.

Here is what the Club leadership has reached a consensus to:

In light of the current impacts of COVID-19 in our state and the rest of the country/world. We, with the guidance/directive from SCYSA, unfortunately, have to make the difficult decision to cancel the spring season. As a result, here are the options available to our families:

Club Fees:

  • Club fees include – team and player registrations, field usage, field and training equipment, referees (fall and spring), coaches’ salaries, utilities (mobile towers), advertising and marketing to name a few.
  • 90-95% of our expenses have been paid for the year. The only outstanding expense is referee fees for the remaining spring season games.
  • All vendors and coaches have been compensated.
    • Unless we get a partial refund from any of our vendors, we will let you guys know and apply it to future club expenses or scholarship fund.
  • SCYSA spring team registration fees have been paid. We are waiting to hear if the state will reimburse or offer credit for the Fall 2020 season. We will keep you posted.

Team Fees:

  • Include tournament fees.
    • Lexington and Can Am cup – completed tournaments.
    • IBIS Savannah, Coast Spring Classic, Academy Cup and State Cups – Canceled due to COVID-19. Players who have paid for these canceled events will have the following options: Donation to Club, Credit or Refund.
  • Please email requests for one of three options:

1) Apply tournament fees as a donation to our non-profit organization.

2) Request a credit to be applied to Fall 2020 tournaments.

3) Request a refund for canceled tournaments back to your family. To avoid additional expenses like bank fees during refund process, the Club will issue a check for that family. Please allow 7-10 business days from the time we receive your request.

You can email doc@bufc.soccer with your option.

NOTE: If you do not indicate your choice by May 1st, your registration will automatically be applied as a donation to the Club.

Donation, Credit and Refund Notes:

  • Donations: We are a 501(c)(3) organization and we rely heavily on registration dollars to fund our Club. If you are able to apply your spring registration payment as a donation to the Club, this will help us continue to provide programming to our community in future seasons.
  • Please note that all donations are tax deductible.
  • Canceled Tournament Credit/Refunds:
    • Refund – a check will be sent to the household.
    • Credit will be applied to Fall 2020 tournaments.

It seems like a plan to return to “normal” is being developed by national and local government officials. Likewise, our leadership is developing a “Return to Play” model. This plan will be communicated to our families as soon as it is finalized and will be in the form of a timeline, rather than fixed dates. We plan on offering FOUR WEEKS of FREE training sessions once we get the all clear.

This situation has caused unprecedented issues within our club operations, as well as in the soccer community world-wide. We are committed to taking whatever measures are necessary to ensure full-service of soccer to the club that we love as soon as we get an all clear from medical professionals. Our commitment to being transparent in our decision-making process will be unwavering and everyone’s patience will be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, we urge you to utilize our Free YouTube Channel – link is at BUFC YouTube Channel. It is extremely important that your player stays active/in shape during this process. These sessions are free of charge, do not require a lot of equipment. Keep your player active and touching a soccer ball at least 60 minutes a day.

Please follow us on our social media panels, club website, and weekly emails. Continue to stay safe and let us know if you have any questions.
